And we achieve all this thanks to the much appreciated help of our caring donors and motivated volunteers. We are in this together and together we can create a better future for Achrafieh. We are one family bonded in respect, mutual care, integrity, solidarity, and tireless work.
At Achrafieh 2020 our mission is to stimulate a sustainable environment, citizens’ rights, and Beirut’s cultural and traditional heritage. To achieve this, we spearhead and participate in diverse initiatives that preserve the dignity and rights of all segments of society while also improving Beirut.
Since our launch in 2013, all our good work has been based on uncompromisable principles: respect for human dignity, safeguarding the identity of our beneficiaries, and preserving our independence and integrity by refusing donations that come with conditions. We are defined by integrity and unconditional support and solidarity with the community. Everything we do is in accordance with the law and approval of concerned authorities.
For maximum impact, Achrafieh 2020 works independently as well as in collaboration with public and private entities. But at all times, the best interests of the neighborhood and the community always come first.
From the very start, our activities have resonated with Achrafieh’s residents and the NGO has gained traction. All our initiatives promote the credo of living together in dignity, integrity, and solidarity. People from all over Lebanon, young and old, have attended our entertaining cultural events that also support small local businesses in Achrafieh by giving them a platform to showcase their products and services. Our social activities advocate the rights of citizens, children, women, the elderly, people with special needs, the displaced, and the ailing. They also protect Beirut’s cultural and traditional heritage.
Reacting to the dire economic crisis and the aftermath of the tragic 4 August 2020 explosion, we now focus on assisting those living below the poverty line or in need of shelter and are playing an active role in the efforts to rebuild homes.
Achrafieh 2020 has 7 board members, 4 advisory members, 4 logistics officers, and over 100 volunteers. This network of engaged people has played an instrumental role in achieving our mission. The heart and soul of Achrafieh 2020, these individuals have become a community dedicated to serving the community.
Achrafieh 2020 received a grant by Fondation de France to list service providers (like handymen, plumbers, electricians etc…) and neighborhood stores we recommend.
When in need for such a service, by choosing from this list you will not only get a great service, but you will also be helping an artisan or a small commerce grow and create jobs. We count on you ! Transparency and corporate governance are at our core. Achrafieh 2020 is regularly audited by an independent firm to ensure all our activities that are conducted in accordance with Lebanese law. This builds trust and accountability, reassuring donors that their contributions are being put to good use. We receive donations directly and through fundraising platforms from Lebanese residents, Lebanese expats, the Lebanese diaspora, and Lebanese and foreign companies.
